About STM

Located in Central Harlem, St. Mark the Evangelist School has been rooted to its community for over a century. St. Katharine Drexel, the Philadelphia socialite turned Catholic sister, dedicated her family fortune to start schools for African American and Native American communities. She founded St. Mark the Evangelist in 1912-- the first Catholic parish and school in Harlem to serve the African American community. That legacy lives on today.
